Organization and Action Steps to Save Time and Energy

This blog offers five very simple, yet effective, routines that can save you time and energy. Having routines that are part of your daily life save you time and energy because they require little thought. Every morning, I have a routine that works for me. It includes feeding the cat, throwing in a load of laundry, cleaning the litter box, making the bed, and meditating. It works well for me. I don’t have to think about what to do next. I do the same thing every day, even on the weekends.

Getting young kids and babies on a routine is beneficial because it makes them feel stable and safe. This is when they’re growing up and learning to navigate life. Set an example that will carry through with them into adulthood. Look to The Uncluttered Life’s Declutter Deck® for tips and tricks about home organization.

Organization

  1. Routines can either be rigid or flexible. They don’t have to be restrictive but rather act as a guidepost.

  2. Routine, in a nutshell, is a flow of intentions that are done regularly.

  3. Everyone has routines, whether the routines work well for them or not.

  4. It is important for you to care for yourself, to allow you to be better for those around you. That’s why I meditate and do my gratitude practice each morning.

  5. Planning helps to better maintain other routines.

Action Steps

  1. Combine a meal prep routine with grocery delivery to shave hours off your week.

  2. Add a nightly routine to your weekly cleaning routine to keep your home clutter-free. The routine can be based on tidying so that your house does not get overwhelming for you.

  3. Set up an after-school routine for kids so that they have predictability. For example, give a snack and empty out their backpacks to make sure you’re not missing anything they need you to do, like sign permission slips.

  4. Create an exercise routine in order to have more energy and stabilize your mood.

  5. Schedule a family routine to plan your week. Sit down as a family and make sure everyone is included.
