Organization
On a bookshelf, make sure to leave 1-2 inches of white space in front of the books.
Texture makes a big difference in the way a room looks. The more texture, the warmer the space looks.
You can mix a variety of hangers in your closet as long as they are the same color.
No matter how white your space is (or the color of your choice), it’s nice to have a touch of black to anchor the space.
You can mix label types throughout your home. Just stick with the same type of label in a cohesive area.
Use labeled elastics to help easily see the size of a set of sheets. You can also use them around duvet inserts.
Add additional shelves to your cabinets, taking one in and having it cut for your particular needs.
Action Steps
When color coding bookshelves, organize books by height within each color range. Organize the books from highest to lowest.
Use colored containers with higher sides so you don’t see the contents. This makes everything look neat and tidy.
Use hair ties to bind together items of the same color so they stay together.
In your pantry, have things displayed facing forward and in nice tidy rows for a grocery store look.
When making labels, cut off as much excess as possible. This will achieve the best look.
In linen closets, have the rounded edges of folded items facing outward.
Use a folding board to fold sweaters for a uniform look on the shelf.
