Organization and Action Steps to Create Systems for Productivity

Included here are simple systems that will make you feel more productive and less stressed.

Organization

  1. The challenge with doing laundry is folding, putting it away, and keeping track of what goes where. When you have those mixed loads (underwear, socks, shirts, etc.), it takes up time. It’s best to do one load of laundry per person so that you know where everything belongs.

  2. The Eat It Next Drawer will be the first place to look for a snack and when packing lunches. It’s a great way to prevent food waste and save money.

  3. The benefit of decluttering your mind is that you will have brain space to have time to think and enjoy the moment.

  4. You can manage photos using albums on your phone. See the blog on photo organization listed earlier.

Action Steps

  1. Have a Wash It Next Bin (WIN bin). Everyone knows that if an item of clothing goes in that bin, it will be washed next.

  2. Make sure everyone has 15 days worth of underwear, socks, t-shirts and shorts.

  3. Wait until you have a full load of like items before washing. By the time you get to the drawer where you have to put it away, it’s empty and easier to refill.

  4. Designate a drawer in your refrigerator for the Eat It Next Drawer. These are foods that need to be eaten soon, such as leftovers and things that are already opened.

  5. Make return reminders easier by writing your message on masking tape with a Sharpie and taping it to the item that needs to be returned.

  6. Tape messages to the door or the car steering wheel to remind your family of things that need to be done.

  7. Post-it notes on the exit door work wonders for reminding you of things you need to take with you before you leave the house.
