Nothing to Wear?
Organization and Action Steps to Declutter Your Wardrobe to Find Something to Wear
In this blog, we share three reasons why we struggle to get dressed each morning. It gives us strategies to create a closet of things that fit your style and work for your lifestyle. If you properly build your best wardrobe system of things that fit, are your style, and work for your lifestyle, there is always something to wear. Choose clothes that fit your personal style, not a favorite trend or what a favorite influence is wearing. Look to The Uncluttered Life’s Declutter Deck® for tips and tricks about home organization.
Organization
When you open up your closet and dresser drawers, the clothes you have should be cut for your personal body shape.
There are five body shapes. These include hourglass, top curvy, bottom curvy, straight and apple.
Two common mistakes for all body shapes is buying or wearing clothes that are too long or too big. We want to complement our shape, not camouflage it. I am guilty of the latter, on occasion, since I wear yoga clothes the majority of my day.
What you wear on the outside should be an authentic reflection of your personality and style on the inside.
When you build your wardrobe around your style, it feels comfortable, not like you’re wearing a costume or someone else’s clothing. You’ll also find it does not take a lot of clothes in order to achieve this. Your clothes will naturally complement each other.
I have a capsule wardrobe and always find plenty to wear. I have just the right amount and rarely spend money on clothing.
Action Steps
No matter what your body shape, look for shoulder fit. It should neither be too tight or too loose in the shoulders.
Look at the neckline of your tops. Are they high or too wide? How does it complement the breath of your shoulders? This is one place many people overlook.
Look at the pieces you currently own that you love to identify the fit points that work best for you.
Be strategic when creating your wardrobe. What do you having going on in your life on a week-to-week basis? Clothing changes depending on your current lifestyle. Do you work from home but still need to be presentable on camera? Do you work from home and no one sees what you’re wearing? Do you go into the office? The pieces need to fit our lifestyle.
